History Under Foot..

Nigh on three hours ago I was standing on the very place the shot heard 'rounds the world was fired.

Can you tell me where I was?

Update: October 23, 2009.
Sadly, you were almost all duped by that rascal Emerson. The first shots were fired on the field behind the meeting house in Lexington. Concord yet five miles down the road to the West. +++++++++++++ The Massachusetts Colony was a hotbed of sedition in the spring of 1775. Preparations for conflict with the Royal authority had been underway throughout the winter with the production of arms and munitions, the training of militia (including the minutemen), and the organization of defenses. In April, General Thomas Gage, military governor of Massachusetts decided to counter these moves by sending a force out of Boston to confiscate weapons stored in the village of Concord and capture patriot leaders Samuel Adams and John Hancock reported to be staying in the village of Lexington. Paul Revere's Ride The atmosphere was tense, word of General Gage's intentions spread through Boston prompting the patriots to set up a messaging system to alert the countryside of any advance of British troops. Paul Revere arranged for a signal to be sent by lantern from the steeple of North Church - one if by land, two if by sea. On the night of April 18, 1775 the lantern's alarm sent Revere, William Dawes and other riders on the road to spread the news. The messengers cried out the alarm, awakening every house, warning of the British column making its way towards Lexington. In the rider's wake there erupted the peeling of church bells, the beating of drums and the roar of gun shots - all announcing the danger and calling the local militias to action. In the predawn light of April 19, the beating drums and peeling bells summoned between 50 and 70 militiamen to the town green at Lexington. As they lined up in battle formation the distant sound of marching feet and shouted orders alerted them of the Redcoats' approach. Soon the British column emerged through the morning fog and the confrontation that would launch a nation began.

Just a little? Shouldn't it be more?

I have been getting close to a friend lately and we admitted we had pretty strong feelings for eachother, but we decided it would be best not to act on them at the risk of ruining our friendship.

It's only been a week since then and he says he still likes me 'a little'.. if he had such strong feelings for me, wouldn't he still have them after just a week?

I still like him a lot. I think about him all of the time, but I feel kind of guilty about it... like I'm not supposed to think about him that way.

Ode to the unrequitted love...

What's the best way to go about a situation like this when the one you fell in love with doesn't share the same feelings? Yet you've become such good friends you wouldn't want to lose that.

Can you fall in love with someone, over time, without having any physical contact at all,

Help! I don't want my iPod to erase all my songs!

Well, I recently got my computer fixed, and it would seem that the tech erased my iTunes!

Now I have no idea how to add more songs, without erasing the ones I already have, since it doesnt recognize my library anymore!

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I have no use for IMBECILE men who won't pay child support because they are not with the mother

Oh boy do I wish I could go through the TV and slap the shish......out of the man that I am watching now on Judge Judy court show.

It burns my butt and makes me sick to my stomach to see grown, healthy men stand up in court and said that they don't think that they need to pay child support because they are no longer with or living with the mother of their child(ren)...........He swears that he does not owe her anything and says that he thinks that she is still in love with him (some stupid women are)

These men make these damn child(ren) then they don't think that they have to support them until they are adults because you don't want anything to do with their mother!

THEN......this fool has a nerve to ask the mother of this child to help him pay for his car that broke down.......(to the tune of $4200)and her being stupid - does it......probably thinking that they will get back together.

OOOOOOHHHHH, I would LOVE to be Judge to GIVE THEM HELL!!!!

Career v. relationship

GF and I have a long distance relationship of about 4 hours distance. We have been dating for about 1.5 years and have talked a number of times about me moving up her way in the next year or so to be together (her moving isnt an option).

I occasionally look for jobs up there but haven't seen anything remotely interesting in quite sometime. My boss at work just accepted a position somewhere else and I know she is going to want to take a team of co-workers with her. I have a good feeling that I am on the top of the list. This would be a great career move for me. And I am pretty sure she would understand that I wouldn't be there long term...probably only a year to help her get established.

I don't know how to approach this issue with my gf. She is not going to take it well. The job is in another state/city but not any further away than we already are. Of course, that is the rational side of me talking. She will see it as one more barrier/hurdle before we can be together. It is kinda hard to explain how taking this job will be good for our relationship

(and to repeat, her moving isn't an option and that isn't an issue of me)
