My laptop failed me today. I was getting ready to close the internet, but the window didn't close. I waited a couple minutes then tried to close it again. It's Vista, so the screen went whitish like it was fading out to a close but froze. I hit CTRL+ALT+Delete to try to bring up the task manager, but it never came up, so I manually shut off power. I turned it on again and it advised me to go to Safe Mode. Did that and then went to shut it down properly. Then I restarted it in Normal mode, but when it would try to log in, it would take an incredible long time to do it, then it would have all these errors like my antivirus and explorer.exe failed to load. One time it even went to the infamous Blue Screen of Death. I took it to Firedog to see what they can do, they initially said it might be the hardrive but would run diagnostics to see what's wrong.
What do you think, is my computer screwed? Can they even retrieve my files? I can find my bookmarks again, redownload programs, my photos are a loss I can live with, but it's my music collection I'm concerned about. I synced my iPod a few days ago so right now thousands of dollars of downloaded music is surviving only in a thing smaller than a deck of cards? Can you even transfer music from an iPod into iTunes? Excuse me if this seems superficial, but I'm rather attached to my music. :| It's fourth behind my fiancee, my family, and my dog. I can't believe I'm stressing out over making sure my music survives. :|
