Dating Etiquette

If you tell someone that you'll call them later and they ask "Do you want me to call if you I don't hear from you later?" is that weird? Also, if you have a 45 minute convo and say good night, is it normal for them to text you immediately afterwards to say other little good-nights? (I've been out of dating scene for a looong time and don't know if this is common but it strikes me as odd).
