Controlling?

My ex-wife had two kids from a prior marriage. When we were married, she used to watch the Lifetime channel. When she would watch it, she would yell and scream at us if we tried to talk to her and be over dramatic for the next couple of days, which made our home unstable. I told her she needed to stop watching that channel and we got in fights whenever she did. Would you consider that to be controlling behavior on my part?
