This actually happened to me the other night while out with friends. It was late (after midnight) and I get a text saying "Hi there". I had no clue who it was from and did not recognize the number so I wrote back "well hello" and waited for a response. It turned out to be my niece who is disabled playing with her phone.

Now I have sent a text to the wrong person on a couple of occassions. One time I sent a pic of a dress I was going to wear to a wedding and asked if they liked it and the "wrong" person replied back "I don't think this would look good on me". It was a guy. I just had to laugh!

It depends, I guess it depends on my mood. Usually i try to guess by the area code and just ask them how they've been or if its an invitation either agree to it or not. if Ive got time and curious and I know a bunch of people from that city...I've tried to play it off like I knew who it was "OMG how are you?" Most of the time I can figure it out within a few back and forths...when Im tired and don't feel like being messed with I've just asked "who is this?"...and sometimes I just don't respond.

It depends what the text says. If it isn't anything that resonates with me I would probably ignore it.

Does it say contact me to refinance? (ignore)
Does it say do you want to get down and dirty tonight?(if I feel like being amused I may respond to that to see who it is)

I don't know- depends on what it says and my current mood.

Depending on what the message was and what time of the day I received it.

If its a rude message and /or sent late at night, I'm less polite.
