Anyone elses lifestyle go UP since the market crashed?Mine has. I got my current job that year, and started investing heavily after the crash because rates were so low. With all the talk about how hard Americans have it right now, I'd be interested to hear from others who have actually had an upswing during this time. - Asked by girldownunder, A Life of the Party, Female, 29-35, Sydney, Medical / Dental |

Mine has been up and down, but no drastic financial highs or lows and overall, no extreme difference. I've changed jobs but managed to not be unemployed for very long. As far as housing goes, I've downsized, which has helped. But I knew I had to be flexible and realistic, so I can't say the overall lifestyle is any worse than it was when I lived in a larger, nicer home. Instead of paying a large percentage of my paycheck on rent, I'm paying off debt, which has reduced the stress level and THAT has definitely helped the overall feeling of well-being. My credit rating has also improved, which gives me hope for where things could be in the future. And, I decided to be thankful that I have enough, instead of feeling down about not having as much as I want to have. I've experienced some extreme lows in the past, so right now, I feel at peace knowing that my kids and I are all healthy, employed and have all our basic needs met. I figure that as long as we stay on the right track, stay flxible and optimistic and, like you, take advantage of opportunities that are unique to this economy, it can only get better.

What do you expect? Australia doesn't have the same problem as the rest of the world. We are one lucky country our unemployment is almost 6% the rest of the world 15-20% Plus. Now in saying that, we have had a bit of a rise in my business, Salvation Army, a few people are finding things a bit tough. I hope things turn around soon for the rest of the world..
