What is the best way to put a Man in his place?!

As without fighting, drama scenes etc. My BF is a slight decade older than me. So when a situation comes up, he on the most part thinks his way/advice is right. It can be so annoying @ times. Well guess what almost 50 myself I do have some life experiance & a college eduacation. He used to teach classes on human behavior so it's like he knows it all. We give each other speaking time but it seems no matter what my opinion is, his way is better in his mind. We have never fought so to speak in the last four years, but when he gets mad, he's the type to withdraw, be cold & won't speak to me for a few days. I find this behaviour immature, cruel, abusive in a way & just not nice. I would never do that to him, It's ok to give each other space. However, Exception to the rule -let things go especially on Christmas morning! He became angry over a comment & made a mountain out of a molehill. Left that morning which hurt me but didn't let it ruin my day with family. Also never called me till last night. Don't U find it odd that some people choose to spend Christmas alone?
