Dogs sense things...they smell so much more than we do...dogs have been known to continually put their focus on parts of the body and soon after their owners find out they have cancer at that site....dogs are aware of changes in mood and emotion....they sense personal distress and respond to it....your dog may be attempting to gain your attention for some other reason though. When my dog wants something he will stand and stare at me until I go through the list of possibilities. He has been trained to respond to the right selection...so I say...water? Cookie? Out? and if he doesn't respond he may just want to have me move the table so he can lay at my feet. But we can usually figure out what he is trying to convey. Today he wanted me to turn on the fan...LOL...stood right in front of it looking at me and then back at it. It took me a few minutes till he barked and then repeated the movement...looking at the fan and then back at me. When I turned it on he smiled at me the way dogs do and then layed down in front of it.
Your dog is talking to you the best way he/she knows how.
