We will decide in two weeks if you are selected for the second interview! At the end of the job interview, they told me they will let me now in two weeks if I was selected for a second interview. Is that a polite way of rejecting an applicant. - Asked by spring151, A Thinker, Female, 29-35, Who Cares? |

Actually no. Each of the better jobs I was applying for always told me at the end of the first interview that they would let me know if I was selected for the second interview. Some said if I would be selected for the 2nd interview they would call me by such and such a day. If not I was not selected. But each of my better jobs were won on the second interview. Though one put me through what i thought was a third interview but it was actually to offer the job in person. Good luck ;)

The "We'll call you in two weeks" line worked only ONE time for me in my LIFE: When I applied for a job on the first day the upstate company was opening a local branch office with work that began two weeks later with paid training. For all others, I got the "You are overqualified" lie followed by the rejection letter in the mail two days later.

In most cases, and in this day and age; yes. But, you always have to stay positive and realize that they might actually be telling you the truth. I think they have other applicants they want to interview before committing to you. Good luck.

I think this is a common practice, these days. This way they have plenty of time to interview others. This just happened with my oldest daughter. Actually, she had about given up, but, what happened was, they waited until the date she was resigning from her present job, which was 2 weeks, Then they called the people that she had listed as her recommendations and also did the CORI check....they had all of this out of the way before they called her for the 2nd one..

this happened to me and i got the job. so its 50/ 50 it could be they are gonna conduct background checks etc before calling you back or they have lots of people to interview and need to make a discussion on hiring people with other people in managment.

sometimes it is a polite way of rejecting someone, but it can also mean they are doing many interviews and need time to select the right person.
