Just saw a very disturbing headline on the cover of Maxim magazine...It said... How to cheat without your girlfriend finding out. This just makes me so angry. You would never see something like this in any womens magazine. Do these men not have any kind of conscious at all? Please tell me your thoughts. And I would appreciate serious answers on this one. Thanks. - Asked by suekiss49, A Married Girl, Female, 29-35, Detroit, Who Cares? |

Maxim is not a men's magazine, it is a boy's magazine. I don't know a single man that takes that publication seriously It is marketed towards and written for high school and college males not men.

There are plenty of women's mags that do this. I will go back to my house and dig up the one's that my brother's ex left when they were living with me. They not only talked about cheating but also talked about guilting a guy into marriage and giving a woman what she wants. The fact that you wantto deny this proves one of two things you don't want to admit women are just as bad as men or you don't live in reality and realize their is stuff like this out there for both sexes.

I read that article. It wasn't mundane at all and was very detailed on how to cheat on your partner and not get caught.

Um, yes you do see similar things in women's magazines...... Truth is magazines target their material to get their readers attention and to pander to the reader's interests. The bias is that men's magazines tend to aim at men's freedom whereas women's magazines seem to aim at ensnarement of men. Or that is what I've noticed as driving themes.

Pisses me off too, men have it hard enough that are the honest type, than to have this put out on the market. Now us ones that are really trying to do the right thing,, don't even have a chance. All the women are looking at us as cheats too. :(

That is some craziness for sure. But to some extent I see it as no different as some of the stories I have seen in Cosmo about women talking about why they slept with their married bosses or how they stole a boyfriend away from another woman rather they were a friend or not. I know a article about how to cheat is sort of different than women just relaying and sharing stories of their own philandering choices. But really I see it as no different. I mean both versions of cheating is still getting glamourized by both sexes in one way or the other. And I guess cause of the fact that sense cheating is such a prevailing thing these days, magazines think it is sort of ok to talk about it like it is any other topic you discuss with your friends. Kind of sad but true.

Have you ever noticed that magazines like Maxim, Mens Health etc. never have articles longer than one page and mostly are only a few paragraphs. That should be a clue as to who they are targeting...short attention span young guys who will buy into whatever shit they are trying to pass off as "current".

Indeed it is in poor taste. Also, it also serves to tar all men with the same brush by implying that many men condone cheating.

LOL. I've seen dozens of such cover stories on the front pages of women's magazines that are displayed at grocery checkout lines. I've seen them so often that I assume its a very regular theme.

Uh I think it's probably one of those things that's just sposed to grab your attention. Television and media is just chock full of stories intended just to shock and grab your attention. That's why I stay away from most media =)

I one time read an article in Cosmo entitled "How to get even with your cheating boyfriend." And it suggested sleeping with his best friend. So I'm not sure I agree that the women's magazines are so much classier.
