Medically, the condition usually does not last long and the level of pain associated with vasocongestion (blue balls) is usually minor and can be exaggerated. Most men have been socialized to ejaculate when they get an erection during sexual activity. Failure to ejaculate and to feel orgasm often adds frustration and disappointment to the reality of the physical sensation.

If you don't have a partner at this time or in a new relationship and it's too soon to have sex, try masturbation, cold showers or massaging the balls are all viable solutions. Vasocongestion (blue balls) does not cause any short- or long-term physical harm to the person and there have been no reported health risks. A quick fix is to masturbate. It will help ease that lingering sensation of heaviness, aching, or discomfort in the testicles due to the continued vasocongestion.

However, if the symptoms last for several days or weeks after sexual arousal has ceased, then do consult a health care professional to confirm the underlying cause(s), if any, other than needing to get laid.

It is apparent that most of the responses above are by people that do not suffer from blue balls. I have suffered from this all my life. And to soothe the pain one should take a WET WARM SMALL FACE TOWEL, then wrap the small towel around the base of the scrotum, it will sooth the pain. Repeat this about three times over 20 minutes and the pain should subside by 70%. It works for me. I tried it with a COLD WET FACE TOWEL but did not feel it reduced the pain fast enough.
