I think I have been friends with my mom since before I was born, and I am still friends with her now. That would be the longest one.

22 years, she was my neighbor and ironiclly we had the same birthday. We were 3 when we met but her family moved to texas when we were 14. We still talk 3 or 4 times a year and have seen each other maybe twice since she moved but I know when we do meet again nothing will be different.

This issue has always made me wonder if I have a form of Asbergers. I just don't collect friends like some people do. I am very much an introvert and don't need people around me in my beeswax. I have always been this way. In fact...too many people in my inner sanctum makes me buggy. As the context of my life changes so do my associates. I have some long standing spiritual contexts where I have "friends" but I don't see these people constantly. I might not connect with them for many months but feel close to them when I do see them. I can run into people from my past and go off and spend a day with them and it's like we were never parted. I truely enjoy other people but I just don't form attachments. People come and go in my life. I don't feel particularly perturbed by that.

28 years. We met when our kids were babies, and our families did lots of things together.

Her husband has transferred several times. They've lived in OR, CA, and now NV. I've visited every place they've lived, and she's come here to visit.

We talk on the phone at least once a month to catch up.

She's a keeper. A lifetime friend. :)

I read you answer and began thinking.

and then I read joybirds

with in part describes me

I have many friends , and I am close to them

but they are not in my day to day.

I also have some friends that contact me frequently enough

I have friends that I met when I moved to this area

we get together at different times (33 years)

I have friends in boston that I have lost contact with but

they way our friendship has always been, and we have acknowledged , no matter the time and distance
you would think we just spoke yesterday.
My description of friends.
Are people that I feel comfort with , can be honest with and
share in things with.

So while I may only see people every few months and some a few times a month we are always comfortable and there is no discomforts .There are a few that I go and see but there is
that discomfort , and I am not apt to be a lose and easy.
I have moved a lot , have varied interest and meet people from
all over that I spend time with.
It all keeps me a little to busy sometimes . I can not keep up.
And you know a fun thing is , when ever I have had a gathering
all of these people feel comfortable with each other .
