How to get a commission raise from a selfish bossI work in a lucrative commission only business. I've been with the same partner for 4.5 years and my pay over the last 2 years has been under my value.

That's kinda the way it goes. When you have a company of course you are going to hire the best you can find to make yourself look good. Not to be rude, but if you feel you can do it better than him, then start your own business. In these economic times be lucky your not getting a decrease in your pay. Right about now, its hard to ask for a raise. Be grateful you still have a job to wake up to everyday.

I think the new guy needs to earn his way in, just as you did for yourself. He needs to work for it.

Appeal to his ego. Get very chummy with him. Make it your goal to make him shine and let him know that you know how to do that - and make sure he knows you expect him to reward you for your efforts. "Scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" type of arrangement.
