how long does it usually take to get pregnant after stopping birth control?my mother couldnt get pregnant for years after she stopped but that mainly because of my dad. my cousin said she tried for about six months after she stopped taking her pills. now i've been thinking of having a baby. and i want to know how long it might take after i stop birth control. i pretty much want to know if it can be instant or if it takes a while for your hormones to get back to normal. i havent made any final decisions yet, just thinking about it alot. - Asked by Female, 18-21 |

They told me it could take 18 mos or more after getting off depo provera to get pregnant. So, I stopped. I got pregnant on my next cycle. lol So really I think it has to do with each individual person.

It depends on which method of birth control you are using. But if it's birth control pills, you can get pregnant right away. For some reason, I was most fertile right after going off the pill, and got pregnant three times the same month I stopped using birth control. I was pregnant 8 times counting miscarriages, so I some experience in that area! lol.

Every woman is different. I've know of some to get pregnant right after stopping the pill, while others take more time. You chemical make up has a lot to do with it.
