It means he's foolish for wearing a ring. Men suffer very high injury rates from rings.

It's a cultural thing.

It's common in Western culture to wear the ring on the left hand. But in other cultures, (Indian, for example) it's traditionally worn on the right.

If he's American, it would be unusual to wear it on the right hand. Some people do this after the death of their spouse or after a divorce.

Maybe the ring is simply too big for the ring finger on his left hand, and he hasn't bothered sizing it yet.

Best bet would be to simply ask him, if you're that curious.

Maybe it's like Robin Harris used to say. "I wear my ring on the wrong finger cuz I married the wrong damn woman!"

Could mean he has an injury on his ring finger. I had surgery on my ring finger, left hand. I'm not married, but if/when I do get married, I dont think I'll be able to wear a ring on that finger - I'll either have to wear it on a different finger, or my right hand.
