I am 30 years old, haven't had my period for 4 months, not pregnant....

okay, so everyone has me worried now.
Long story short, I haven't had my period since August 13th, it lasted 3 days, (normal is 4-5). I don't have the "clockwork" type period, it may start early, might start late, but, every month I had one. I have been pregnant twice before, so I know most of those signs.(I know every period is different). I am married, I do have unprotected sex with my husband, and I have never had this problem before. I have taken 6 test, all say neg. I don't have any cramping, or back pain. I have spotted each month, one time each, all were very very light. What is the deal? Everyone tells me to go to the doctors, but with no insurance, and the way money is tight, its hard, when you don't feel any different day to day then before. Anyone have a clue? or ever went through anything like this befor? Thanks in advance.

Update: December 14, 2009.
i'm sorry. one important fact i left out. I am not on birth control. Never have been. And my husband and did the math, and it doesn't equal out when we had sex, to concive at that point. (yes i still keep track of that, incase of this sort of thing ever happens)... hope this helps a little to better understand the situation...

Well... I'm *not* a doctor, but here are a couple other reasons it could be that have happened to me. I will sometimes miss periods if I'm working out very hard (low body fat can make you miss), and when I was on 'the pill' and switched to a different pill, I missed a couple then too. What kind of birth control do you use to be sure you're not pregnant? If you have any other symptoms, then I'd have to say go to the doctor too - There are low-cost clinics most places.

According to widely published data, an average women begins to lose fertility after age 26, and fertility declines rapidly after age 30. If you are 30 you are in a declining fertility part of your life. Its to be expected.

Have you skipped birth control pills, and then taken it all at once to make up for skipped doses? This can make you skip periods... I've skipped 3 consecutive mos. worth of periods when i forgot to take birth control, especially when its right before my expected period... so i take the skipped days all at once to catch up and it really throws me off.

I went through something similar and turns out, I was diagnosed with "Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome." I was missing a period for months also and I went to the doctor several times before they told me what was going on.

One way to treat it is with birth control pills for 3 months, give or take some months depending on the person. Since you can't go to the doctor, I think you should go to a "Free Clinic" and get birth control pills until you can make an arrangement to see your primary care doctor.

Not treating PCOS can cause you to be sterile, on top of other problems, so it can be very serious if untreated.

I hope this isn't the case for you, but it isn't a condition that is too serious. It's just serious if you don't do something about it.

Good luck!!

I'm sorry to say, but you really should go to the doctor. I know that times are tough and that this is not exactly what you want to hear, but it's what needs to happen. The doctors can tell you if it's early menopause or pregnancy or something more serious. I hope everything is alright!

Find a Planned Parenthood and get a no cost or low cost referral to a gynecologist. There is no way we can know what is going on, but somebody needs to take a look. This is not right and you are playing Russian Roulette with your reproductive life... Not good, not good...

That's called Amenorrhea and there are many, many causes to include serious problems with the Pituitary gland, ovaries, and so on to low weight or a nutritional deficiency.

You HAVE to see a doctor.

I'm in the same boat. I haven't had a period in more than 3 months. I've been to the doctor and have been tested for cervical cancer, a thyroid condition, even my heart (i was having chest pains), and nothing shows. I have no idea why. From what I've read, it could be due to weight loss, exercise, thyroidism, stress, polycystic ovary syndrome, etc.
