Best places to meet women?

I'm wondering what most of you consider the best places to meet women. I work in an office with all guys and I generally work on projects around the house when I get off work. So, I'm wondering what places might be good to meet women when I do go out. I've never met the right type in the bar setting so please don't say bars or clubs.

Update: November 17, 2009.
thanks all...sounds like i need to find some interests that involve people...

Have you any interests outside of working on your home?

Any clubs or organizations listed in your local paper that do things you are interested in whether it's sailing, biking or ballroom dancing...??

No, bars are NOT good places to meet, though plenty on this site do their share of "meeting" people in them; however, I would not ADVISE you to do that.

Look for dances and other social "arenas" to meet 'n greet. Get to know new people. Even if you meet men, they will know "just the gal for you."

You sort of have to spread yourself out.

I always tell women (and even though you're a fella, I'll tell you the same thing), that you won't meet anyone walking from yur kitchen to the living room. You really have to make an effort to "put yourself out there."

Keep looking for social events going on for singles in your local newspaper... Sometimes, there are flyers out there by a newsstand advertising a singles' event. Get involved in whatever suits you best. Start somewhere.

Online dating is a pretty sure way to meet people.

There is also things like taking a class, the gym, through family or friends, or...

Hrm... Here.

I met my s/o here and we are doing awesome.

We were able to see a little of how we think just by reading each other's posts and responses... an opportunity that you don't normally get to have. =-)

Outside. The grocery store. The beach. Anywhere except work and inside your house. And just because you've failed before doesn't mean bars should be crossed off. They have bars in restaurants and hotels you know.

Regardless. Get outdoors. I meet friendly women when I go out on my bike or walk all the time.
