Do you think that the birth control pill should be an over the counter product?

What do you think? Is a prescription still needed or can this product be moved to OTC status?

No.

Birth control pills are contra-indicated for a lot of women. So no one should take them without their physician's approval and prescription.

Sure - if it's medically safe, why not?

Are you kidding?!!! Remember, this is the society that has to have "warning coffee is hot" and "warning, don't put screwdriver in eye" on it's products or some dumbass will screw it all up.

no, i do not think it should be OTC. what would stop some maniac giving it to their cat or dog or some unsuspecting pregnant woman? i can think of all things i would do with it to my enemies who are trying to have kids. i could easily throw off some women's hormone cycle or maybe give it to a guy so he could appear to be more effeminate. NO.

I'd be worried about the pill getting otc status.

Its hormonal, and the strength varies. How would a woman know which one, and what strength would be right for her?

Too much of a good thing, does have side effects over time, and some women shouldn't take it at all.

Just because something is commonly used, doesn't mean that it shouldn't be monitored by a doctor.

yes..it would make it so much easier for young girls to get the pill without the big deal of their parents, doctor, etc

Of course not! It's a hormone. Into the wrong hands or if misused can create a lot of health issues.

NO WAY!! it contains hormones, comes in different strenghts and you need to monitored while on it. If i didnt have to go the doctor to get mine filled then i would not get my blood pressure monotored and that is a scary thought. some pills give some women bad reactions whether it raises your blood pressure or whatever

no they should not as females need to be checked out to see which they should be on
