I don't think so. No one actually believes they are stupid. If they say they do they are probably joking. It takes intelligence to know that you might be stupid in one area. I have seen a couple before that seemed so stupid I prayed that they would never have children. But then maybe the genes would skip a generation and the children would be intelligent. One never knows.

Good question as I really need help in this department. I think I am stupid, well, I would say I am pretty sure. But many people say I am intelligent, probably because I have a good job, and I got my PhD. I am very confused, I explained to my best friends, my sister, and my shrink, but they were not helpful at all.

Most stupid people say they are intelligent and pretend to look down on other stupid people. They feel best when they can make a pretense of looking down on people they know to be intelligent.

Absolutely not. I've gotten some of the most asinine replies to some of the questions that I've asked. I am not kind to stupid people who think that they know something, though. I let them know how stupid they are. Conversating with a stupid person who don't know that they are stupid is like talking to a person who's on fire and cannot admit it.

No I don't think unintelligent people really realize just how unintelligent they are. Imagine you're in a valley, surrounded by mountains. You've made no real attempt to learn about the world around you either. So to you, the whole world is in that valley and since you haven't made any attempt to find out what is beyond the mountains (read a book or keep up with news etc)... You have absolutely no clue whats out there. Chances are you'd think the rest of the world was just like that valley. Now if you were on one of the mountaintops... you could see the whole valley and whats on the other side of the mountains. You see the world is different.. you've read books and know about other cultures, other places and about science how things work, why people do the things they do, etc... And then you look down at the person in the valley and see... Gee, they don't know shit and they don't even have a clue.
