What's a great cologne for men?I am looking to buy some cologne, I want something not too strong. What are some of the most appealing men's cologne's ladies? - Asked by mrvincent45, A Creative, Male, 36-45, Philadelphia, Financial / Banking |

The best-smelling, best-selling colognes don't always mix with everyone's personal body chemistry. Seriously, go to a perfume counter (large department store, or even discount store) & try them out a couple at a time. Department stores usually have little free vial samples that you can try out on your own time. If the counter has coffee beans, that's a good sign: Coffee beans clear your nose so you can smell again, because after several scents, your nose no longer knows! Don't just try them on your wrist. Pulse points other than your wrist---like the inside bend of your elbow---are good places to try a scent out with your own body's chemistry. After 5, 10, 20 minutes, you'll know if you like the way you smell wearing a particular scent. I will say that scents by Aramis & Joop & Calvin Klein are good places to start :)

I agree with utahmom. I am not a big fan of cologne. However, if you want one, I would suggest Bowling Green. It sounds clique, but I also like Polo.

Lots of research shows that natural male sweat is the MOST appealing scent to attract females. It has lots of biological triggers (pheromones) that work in subliminal biological ways to make females want to get closer, etc. All those commercial products come in a distant second or worse.

I think the scent has to fit your chemistry to smell good on you. There are perfumes that smell good on my friends but not on me and vice versa.

Mmmmm I love good cologne on a man but, I don't want to smell him before he enters the room. I just melt when I go in for that hug and I bury my face in his chest and get that fresh, masculine, fragrance filling my nose.

Not sure if they still sell it or not. But Stetson cologne is very sexy in my opinion. Not too strong, but seriously very delicious scent.

I like Armani. I have had an awful lot of women tell me that I smell great when I wear it. One time I was singled out a party as some women said that something smelled absolutely great and then they said hey, it's you that smells like that. Every date I've ever been on when I've worn it has always told me that it smells just wonderful.

Hate to just repeat what others have said, but truly, I dislike cologne on men. A soapy, clean smell, to me is the most attractive scent on a man.

I'm a little late with an answer but after reading all the above responses, it would appear that you will smell just like every other guy in the room. Some old favorites of mine are "Grey Flannel" and "Obsession" for men. Remember that "2" sprays is too much. As a woman when I decide to use the atomizer... I spray it on a cotton-ball or q-tip then apply it to the few areas that a "close encounter" would make the scent not over-powering but intended for only who I select.

a little late here, but, there are 2 very inexpensive ones that I love to smell on my guy....one is Preferred Stock and the other Royal Copenhagen....it was nice finding those because I had been spending an arm and a leg (not literally :) on other very popular brands.....give them a smell...

I think people who wear colognes or perfumes are inconsiderate. They usually apply them with a crop duster and you can smell them miles away. Why do they think everyone enjoys their reek as much as they do? Whatever you use, use it so sparingly that you can't be smelled unless someone has their nose on your neck. I bet you'd be offended if I walked around with dog doo on my shoe and expected you to enjoy the smell.

Not to rain on your parade, but I dont think women particularly like to smell cologne on men anymore. May workplaces dont want their people to wear scents at all, and I've found that most men's colognes are way too sweet.
