Have you ever passed a cabbage field...it smells like that too. Skunk weed is a member of the Cabbage family and it is edible.

Is that the yellowish type "flower" on green leaves of stinky vegetation, that grows in swamps? I've seen it, and smelt it...and don't want to again...why does it smell? I dunno...

But I don't like it. :P

I don't know but as someone who has smoke quite a bit of that skunky funky in his day I wish it hadn't...it was such a bitch to cover up the smell.

the curing process, and the strain...
sometimes its sweet and piney...othertimes, harsh, or even skunky.
most times it smells skunky before its harvested...

I'm not sure but I think "Joybird" has the most logical answer.

When I was a kid, the stuff grew wild. I was never interested and never heard it called that BUT I knew the smell of "weed" when it was around.
A few years ago, some folks came into my store who reeked of skunk.
I asked them, "What have y'all been doing that you smell like skunk?" They just grinned. (A mind is a terrible thing to waste.)

After they left, my younger co-workers "enlightened" me.

Apparently, not all weed smells like skunk.
I'm told, it's only the really "good" stuff that does.
Whatever. Stank is "stank".
