Weight loss

I am trying to lose weight and usually don't eat breakfast. Would rather have a liquid drink. I realize breakfast is necessry to jumpstart your metabolism. I was told that protein supplements would help to boost metabolism, but I don't know of any that can be a meal replacement. I detest slimfast, so that wouldn't work for me. Any suggestions?

Every morning, I have a protein/spirulina shake. Whole Food's "Soy Protein Powder with Spirulina", I get the chocolate one. I mix it w/water and I put a tablespoon of bulk fiber I get at the supermarket. It's great and helps keep it off and has 100% of a lot of vitamins. xo

Go to the health food store (Whole Foods) or GNC to find the protein drink supplements. Slim fast is nothing but sugar and is not a protein drink. Gotta read the labels. Genisoy and Spirulina are two brands that you mix with milk or juice. Both are pretty good, I think. Not eating breakfast causes your system to stay slow as it is trying to conserve the fat storage since it finds the body in the starvation mode.

Never have I been healthier (skin, weight, facial complexion) and more energetic (I'm talking bouncing off the walls) as when I drank v8 juice at breakfast and as part of other meals and snacks, drank a lot of water, and had lean protein about 5 times a day. Only eat whole wheat carbs with fiber. Oatmeal is a good idea as well and very filling. If you eat often and make sure veggies and lean protein accompany each meal, you'll be good. Adding exercise is a huge plus. Once you do something 15 times, it becomes a habit...once you start exercising, after the initial 2 wks of consistent activity, you'll probably be hooked. My old roommate started running and I just saw him after 3 months--HUGE improvement. I didn't recognize him.

1 pouch of instant oatmeal, 1/2 scoop generic protein powder, 1 cup water, blend it all up and you've got a shake with protein and grains. Mmmm Mmmm just what the body wants.

Try a health food store, or someone in that department at Whole Foods, or a nutritionist.

I drink green tea every morning, and then at least 2 more glasses of it throughout the day. I swear by it.
