As long as they aren't "Show Tunes" I think you're okay. I like music from various decades and genres. I think a person with eclectic music taste is much more interesting than someone who just likes one type-kind of gives me the impression that they have an open mind.

I was into big band music (40-50's) during high school, but I was also a music major......I don't think age has anything to do with the period of music, someone just becomes interested in the style of music.
My 75 year old mother LOVED AC/DC, AEROSMITH...whereas my Dad was into Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, etc.....they both had entirely different tastes, but both loved music.

To me growing up with such a wide range of music was great.....and educational. After all, the music we hear today all transpired in some way or form from classical music pieces and experimentation. Some were born out of certain hardships and bad times in our country, some grew from a form of civil rebellion, and others in celebration.

I think anyone who has an interest in music should be applauded.

Nothing wrong with that. Different people like different sorts of music. Oldies definately are not that bad an option.

He's nostalgic, and isn't afraid to take a look at life how it was "back then." He also has a true appreciation for the music from that time and the messages the songs send him. I'm going to guess, also, he is very creative and on probably on the artistic side.

I'm guessing there has got to be something within him that fuels his passion for this era.
