My husband wants two more chil ...
untitled / Family & Parenting / 9:45 PM - Tuesday May 13, 2008
A Thinker (Female, 26-28) asked:

my husband wants two more children we have 4 already (a girl then triplets) in two years. He says he wants all 6 before he turn 30 but I said no. We can't have sex for fun without him asking about having more kids. He deserves to have kids but I don't want to be pregnant every year. Am I being selfish or is he?

i don't think either of you are being selfish he just wants a big family and you don't feel like becoming a baby factory. but i also believe its true that once you set eyes on another child you both made youd see his point of view and not be able to imagine your life without it.

this is one of those arguements that there isn't a bad guy (or girl) its just two opposing viewpoints that both have merit.

why not try a compromise and suggest adoption?

can you afford to give 6 children a good life? 4 sounds like a complete struggle.

I think he is being selfish and/or insane

tell him that when the triplets get out of diapers you'll start trying for another.
that way it has a very definitive timeline... and gives you time in between.

I think he is being selfish, why so many kids? It's hard to raise one or two, let alone 4 or 6, and expensive. I don't think you are being unreasonable. I would be tired if I had 4 in two years! I would talk to him, how can you afford so many children. Think about college and feeding 8 people.

i gotta say sounds like i side with you on this one and he is being the selfish one. i have carried and given birth to two of my own and i guess i am bias but lets let him be pregnant all the darn time and deal with the body changes as well and see how he feels about more babies. GOOD LUCK

No offense but who the heck has six kids any more? Who can afford it? Who wants to be pregnant all the time? Triplets would have done me in.

Pahleeze! Your man has lost his mind. I would investigate what having more children really means to him and figure out a way to meet that need without having babies. Does he need to feel "needed"? Like he has a lot of people looking up to him? Like he is adored and has a fan club? Or is it his way to try to keep you dependent on him and too tired and exhausted to consider leaving?

There is more to this than just popping out another kid or two. He needs to talk it out like a big boy.

Four is plenty. I could only afford two to be kept in the style that I was accustomed to when I grew up.
