My husband and I dated for 9 months then got engaged. We got married 10 months later. We started talking about getting engaged/married after dating for about 6 months. We were both older and had lots of dating experience. I had lived with someone for 8 years prior to meeting ym husband. Anyway, I think that we both knew what we wanted and we both wanted to have children and didnt have the time or the need to date for years on end like some people do! We were married 8 months before I got pregnant.
Anyway, this worked for us but some people think this was too soon. Some people meet and get married witin months. others wait 10 yrs! The one thing I truly believe is that age does play a part and I personally do not think anyone on their 20's, especially early 20's, should even think about gettign married and/or starting a family! Enjoy life. Travel, go to school, have a career, have great times with your girlfriends. Marriage is a wonderful thing but being young and free is even better!

We dated 5 months before we got engaged..We were married 8 months later..But it worked for us..25 years ago on May 23rd!!
I was only 18 too..i wouldnt recommend it to just anyone..lol!!!

Dated for 10 years before we got married. For real. Well, we lived together for 3 of those 10 years. Neither one of us was interested in getting married really...but then we mutually decided to one year and were engaged shortly thereafter.

We were engaged for 9 months I think.

well I dont believe in short in engagements anymore I think the times are different but I actually knew my guy two months.. we were long distance and got engaged, were married six months later and were married 20 years.. that is NOT how it usually goes.. believe me. I believe knowing someone a year should do it.. you need to wait I think to figure it out but too long is not necessary
