Talk about it. Being deployed makes it really difficult to schedule a visit, so the next best thing is to talk about the awesome things about your hometown.

Yes, I have been places where I got homesick and still had a bit of time left before returning home. I dealt with it by getting busy doing things....catching up on movies that I had wanted to see and never had the time at home, and going out with friends....

I have been on my own since I was 16. I think I got homesick....when I was 17....I moved from CA to FL...with my husband (b/f at the time). No, I don't get homesick anymore....it may have to do with me not having a great childhood though =) I love my family...but I was adopted as a toddler...didn't meet my father until I was 24....but...I am a very happy camper in my adult life!

Well..."I'm" home....but much of my family isn't. More appropriately for me, is I get "family sick". :(

Yes and no. I got over being homesick for my birth home/state years ago. I realized that it just wasn't for me for numerous reasons.
In the meantime, I visited another city (went back many times) and discovered that IT was my "home" and I wish I had been born there. If I had, I THINK I probably never would have left. As far as that city goes, yes, I miss her all the time and visit as often as possible.

I still get very homesick even when i had to go on my senior trip in high school I wanted to hyperventilate until I found out my parents were going to be chaperones. But then as I got older and met my husband I couldnt even go away with my best friend for a weekend because I wanted to get home.. So it gets pretty bad for me I dont know if that makes me abnormal or not.
