A Mr. Nice Guy (Male, 18-21, Student) asked:

I read somewhere that many people would choose another carreer if they could. Do you regret the choices you made when you had to choose for a carreer?

I worked as a counselor in a university -- I find many people don't choose their career -- it is chosen for them

Don't let that happen -- one of the best and least expensive ways to find out who you are and where you want to go in life is to take aptitude tests -- these can be taken at the career advising office at your university or buy an aptitude book -- there is an excellent assessment test at iVillage.com try it it is free

Sometimes I do regret not going for what I wanted but if I had I wouldn't have the life I have now with my husband and kids. I am very happy but I have always wondered what if? The career I didn't pursue would have been in marine mammal rescue and studying the way that dolphins communicate.

If I had known computers were going to take over the world, I would have picked a physical labor job, even if it meant a lot less money.

I didn't choose, I fell into a highly paid trap that I detest.

No, I never regretted becoming a nurse, but, I do regret not going on for my master's degree.....I was married to a man the refused to allow me to go back to college....he said it was a waste of HIS money, even though I also worked.......all I can say is, "What the hell was I thinking" to allow him to dictate to me what I could and could not do.
