The other answers are good answers IF you do not have blood sugar problems. IF you do, you will NOT lose any weight: you might stabilize your weight, but you won't lose it. You may only have minor blood sugar problems, but you won't take the weight off as fast as you might have safely taken it off otherwise, if you follow the advice the other posters gave you.
If you have minor blood sugar problems (e.g. do you feel the least bit sleepy after cereal or fruit, especially in the morning? You have blood sugar irregularities--they're very common), the only diet plan that will take the weight off safely and FAST is low carb. You can actually do a HEALTHY low carb diet with lots of veggies. You just have to look for low carb veggie mixes (I look for organic mixes in the mixed veggie section of my local Stop and Shop--one "Asian veggie mix" has only one gram of carbs per serving; that means I can have two whole bags of it per day on Atkins Induction--more than I can even eat per day. And I have it with carb free dressing. It actually tastes good, and it's good for you).
Also, make tofu and fish a large part of the diet. You don't even have to include red meat in the diet if you don't want to. Just stick to the veggies, fish and tofu and skinless and boneless chicken and you actually have a reasonably healthy diet and you're still very low carb. And you will lose between five and ten pounds a week on it--WITH blood sugar problems. AND it will stay off, as long as you don't go back to bad diet patterns.
