A Guy Critical (Male, 29-35, Military) asked:

Ladies, when is it ok for a guy NOT to be a gentleman?

Update: May 10, 2008.
There are still gentlemen in the world, unfortunately they get stepped on far too often and turn into @$$holes!

I think being a gentleman is the most wonderful thing a man can be... unfortuantely too many women don't appreciate what is offered to them.

I agree with a couple posts on here. I think you should always be a gentleman. Even if it comes to things in bed a woman and a man can still be descent or considered a lady and a gent. If you love the person you are with behind doors and share that special makin love type thing, that is being a gentleman. (probably if you make it all about her, too. lol)
I also agree there are hardly any left out there. Its sad because I am looking for one and yes, the assholes step in and f it all up for me. and you.

When he is not around me.

I do still demand some semblance of respect in bed......like if I ask you to stop something that is hurting me, a man needs to be a gentleman and stop.......or suffer the consequences afterwards which may not be too ladylike from me (smile)

why would i NOT want him to be a gentleman? I guess when standing up for me-but then again-thats being a gentleman. Is this a trick question? I'm confused.

I think men should always be a gentleman. You can go crazy in the bedroom and still be a gentleman. It's hard to find a gentleman these days. We actually need more gentleman in this world. I miss the old days when men opened the door for you, pulled your chair out for you and treated you with the respect that we all deserve.

The "got stepped on and turned into an @$$hole" excuse doesn't wash, really.

If you really ARE a gentleman, nothing will stop you from being one--you wouldn't let another person do that to you.

If you are NOT really a gentleman, you will look for any excuse to deviate from the good path. ;)
