A Hip-Hop Guy (Male, Los Angeles, 29-35, Who Cares?) asked:

So recently, there was discussion if women gave bad dating advice or good one, so I decided to ask a different kind of question:

Men, what was the best dating advice you gotten from a woman?

Women, what was the best dating advice you gotten from a man?

I'll share mine later

Update: January 30, 2008.
The best advice I got was back in 1999. This female friend made me promise her, that I would talk to a lot of female since she believed I can get a girlfriend easily, but I had to take the risk & talk to them. Which was good since I needed that push, & I always found women very scary to talk to.

Make eye contact when she is talking, it really turns women on to know you are paying attention to them.

Have a good one!

My best advice, period, is be oneself and don't try to be someone you're not.

A guy told me once to be myself and when asked a question don't say "I don't know whatever you want" Know what you want. It made dating a lot more fun for me too. I use to get really nervous. Now I'm married and and I have no problem telling my man what I want, I don't always get it but I can tell him thats for sure.

The best dating advice I've ever heard from a man, came from Dr. Randy Pausch and he got it from a woman:

Don't pay attention to what men say, pay attention to what they do, it'll tell you everything you need to know.

That's paraphrased, I'm sure. If you want to see the lecture he gave start here: http://www.etc.cmu.edu/ global_news/?q=node/42

Or search for Randy Pausch on youtube.com. There's a series of 12 videos and it's quite remarkable in many ways.

One girl told me a good while back not to listen to a woman's words, because they often don't mean them, but their actions.

She was bang on the mark!

Best advice I got was:

Be yourself. Don't know what that means huh? Ok when you are out with the girl treat her like she is a good guy friend of yours. Would you get a limo and roses for one of your friends when you go out. No? Then don't do that when you first start dating either. You also don't try to impress your good friends right. Same with the woman.

The best advice I got from a woman was from my mother...... she told me women dislike being pressured about relationships... they have some of the same hangups about love as men do. Take your time, don't rush too fast, don't push too hard, and be consistent.
