New Digital

I purchased a digital camera on line for $286.00. I already have a camera but it doesn't have some features that this one does. My husband thinks I am wasting money by buying a new camera. II told him when it comes in I'll ship it back.. Do you think I am being wasteful because I wanted a new toy for CHristmas?

Yeah, you definitely just wasted a grip.

If I replaced everything I got the second some new features came out on a new model I'd be broke as a joke.

If it's something you really enjoy AND you have the extra money, why not?

It rather depends on how tight a budget you are on. If you've money going spare, then it's fine. If the purse strings are stretched already, then it's being wasteful.

If you can afford it, why not??? Sell you old one and keep the new one. That way part of the price will be paid for by the sale of the old camera.

I guess the real deciding factor here is, did you pay cash or did you charge it &/or do you now have bills you cant pay? If you charged it, you will have to pay a lot more than the $286 with interest charges unless your one of those lucky people that can pay them off every month.
But if you want to keep it, sell the other one on Ebay or craiglist and get some money back and be sure to put it toward this new camera. Does your man buy the "latest" video machines and video games, I- pod, cell phones etc and keep up on the latest techno stuff? I personally wouldnt put up with that myself, especially the games. If he doesnt, consider yourself lucky. If he does, he shouldnt say a thing about you buying a camera.

Actually, it depends on the features and whether or not you use them. I have an extensive camera "addiction" and have point-n-shoot digitals as well as film and digital SLR's. They all have their niche and I use them all for different applications and effects. As long as you can afford it, so what if you wanted a new toy. On the other side of the coin, if it only comes out a few times a year then save your money BC as with all things tech, they keep evolving and will be cheaper next year.
