For the past three years i´ve been in my career, i got three more to go. Now that i´m more into it than ever i realize i could never truly be happy on a personal basis with it.... now i face having to change my career... my quesiton is..

Has anyone else switched their career after being into it for so long?

How do i tell my parents i really want to switch cause i´m unhappy with my present career.

Oh, gosh. You are so young, this transition will be virtually painless. I did it in my 30s, and will probably do it again in my late 40s.

As for the parents, if you go to them with a plan (a new chosen career, some job interviews lined up, etc), they'll take it ok.

I have a friend that had a degree in petroleum land management. He went to work for a big company when he got out.....moved up and stayed with them a while...actually until he was 38. Then he switched to mortgage banking. COMPLETELY different career, but he was tired of land work and got into it. He was a dogboy for a while but now he is over the main office for two cities here in Texas!

If you aren't happy, you will dread everyday of your life! You are young, move on and do what you like!

I was a lab tech. for years,then decided I didn't want it anymore.Choose to own and operate my own business,and did.The first few years were hard,but then it got better.Now I own another business,and I know it too will be hard at first,but will get better.It's all good,when you put your heart and soul into it.Sweetie.....you just have to follow your heart,it's your best guide.

I just quit my job for the same reasons. I do not have another job but I had to do it. you are too young. I'm in my late 30's with a gf who wants to get married, this yr.
