Have you had a drastic career change in your life? One in which you built one career after so many years and decided to start over including schooling? If so how do you feel about it in retrospect? Any advice would be appreciated!

I wish that I would have, but I'm a chicken and quitting a well paying job to go back to school (ie: zero income) and starting all over is a scary proposition....

Yes, I did. The funny thing though is that I am back in my original career. But yes, I gave it all up and went back to school. Had a great time and wouldn't have changed a thing.

Yes, went from being a Systems/Network Engineer to being a Patent Attorney. Just got the offer, haven't started the new job yet (but left the old career years ago, before law school). Hopeful, but cautious - and anticipating doing a LOT more work (for a lot more money, of course, and huge student loan debt). Lost wife in the process - good riddance. Do whatever you'd be happiest doing - a few years of schooling is nothing compared to decades in a field you aren't happy with. It's not too late to do what you really want to do.

Go for it! If that is what you really want to do. I am back in school at age 49, will finish my bachelors next spring. I work in the medical field right now and my schooling is in Criminal Justice. I can't wait! Let me know how things go.
